My rookie season in the NFL, I had the best coach I could of had. He was a perfectionist, and would only talk to you when you made a mistake! So you can imagine he talked to me a lot during training camp. Coach would not just give you constructive criticism... he would GO OFF ON YOU for running the wrong route, or making the wrong read.

In 1996 we were still running the run-n-shoot offense in Atlanta, and every play had multiple options for every person. If the play called for a simple 12 yard out route, I could have a combination of routes based on the coverage of the defense, and the position of the defensive backs. My head was swimming the first week. But I soon figured coach out. He knew you were going to mess up occasionally. But as long as you don't make the same mistake twice, or make the same mistake that someone else just made, then you were fine.

I decided to take daily notes in our meetings of my mistakes and the mistakes of others to make sure I would not do it again. This habit allowed me to make the team and play over guys who were bigger, and faster than me. To quote coach, "I'm going to cut you, before the owner cuts me. If I can't trust that you are going to do the right thing every time, then I can't play you in a game." Eventually, I was able to not only know my assignments, but because I took the time to listen to the coaching points for the other players, I learned their assignments as well. This allowed me to be more valuable to my team, and to the coaches at the same time.

Most people tend to only want to do enough to get by. But if you want to be truly successful in life and in football, you must me teachable and able to handle criticism. This mindset will allow you to learn things about yourself and the game that you would not have known. You will also put yourself in a position to be as successful as possible both on the field and off of it.

I made a decision to allow the coaching points to help me develop as a player. I choose to apply what I learned about myself and my teammates immediately in practice. Consequently, I was able to play at the highest level of football with confidence.

If you want to make it to the next level, start paying attention to the little things, and do the right things right every time!

Real Madrid 1 Roma 2

Real Madrid came into this game with a lot of injuries to key players like Ruud Van Nistlerooy, Arjen Robben, Wesley Sneijder and suspension to Sergio Ramos. They were however boosted by the return of Robinho and Pepe but ultimately paid for the lack of creativity in the middle of the park and for the lack of physical presence upfront.

Roma on the other hand had a full complement to pick from and played a very smart game denying Real any space whatsoever and causing problems of their own with Alberto Aquilani being outstanding in the 1st half. He had 2 tremendous efforts, the 1st of which ricocheted off the crossbar with Iker Casillas beaten all ends up and the 2nd in a matter of seconds, forcing Casillas into a very smart save.

Francesco Totti was not at his showy best but he held the ball up brilliantly for his teammates to join up in the attack most especially Simone Perrotta, who's unselfish, running, typifies the way Roma play.

Real Madrid did not create many chances but the ones they did create were wasted by Robinho and Julio Baptisa as they both should have hit the target when presented with golden opportunities. Baptista did hit the bar with a brilliantly taken free kick.

Pepe was given his marching orders for a 2nd yellow card when he brought down Mirko Vucinic very close to his penalty box.

Roma struck the 1st blow when Rodrigo Taddei rose to head in a brilliant cross from Max Tonetto in the 73rd minute. Raul replied with a typically cool finish after he was put through by Guti in the 75th minute but he was clearly in an offside position.

Real incredibly were playing better with 10 men than they were with 11 and Raul, on 2 occasions nearly got his side in front but he was thwarted 1st by Juan then he headed over from a free kick. Roma had the game sewn up when a free kick by Christian Panucci was missed by Fabio Cannavaro but was met by the very impressive Vucinic to make it 2-1 on the night and 4-2 on aggregate.

The Greek referee, it has to be said was way too fussy and booked players, sometimes needlessly and never really gave the game a chance to flow. Roma would not care too much about that and would be looking forward to the quarter-final draw on Friday week.

Chelsea 3 Olympiakos 0

Chelsea had a very comfortable ride to the quarters as most people thought they would as Michael Ballack headed them in front from a Frank Lampard cross in the 6th minute. Lampard helped himself to an easy goal when the goalkeeper spilled Ballack's shot and in the 3rd minute of the resumption in the 2nd half Solomon Kalou made I 3-0 from another goalmouth scramble.

Porto 1 Schalke 0 (Schalke win 4-1 on penalties)

Manuel Neuer gave the best goalkeeping display by anyone in this year's champions league last night as he made 3 tremendous saves in the match and then another great goalkeeping display in the penalty shootout. Ironically it was not until went down to 10 men did they start to play some good stuff when Jorge Fucile was harshly sent off for a high challenge on Halil Altintop. Four minutes later Lisandro Lopez swivelled and scored the best goal of the night and it had to be to beat Neuer in such inspired form as he his hit the roof of the net with the goalkeeper left floundering.

Ricardo Quaresma really should have put Porto in front in extra-time but left all alone with Neuer, he could not make up his mind what he wanted to do and eventually his attempt was saved by Neuer. In the penalty shootout, predictably Schalke scored all their whilst Neuer made saves from Bruno Alves and Lisandro to put Schalke in the quarter finals of the champions league for the 1st time in their history.

Sweden EURO 2008 Soccer T-Shirt

Country: Sweden #610575.RO If the Landslaget are to win the Euro 2008, they need YOUR support!

The 2008 US $2,450,000 French Masters Series event played in Monte Carlo, Monaco has just began. This senior championship first started back in 1897 and throughout the years has gathered the best male tennis players from around the globe.

Amongst some of the major clashes that have already taken place are the Murray vs Lopez game which brought lots of expectation; specially on the young Britton who was an unknown option to advance to a second round due to his retiring from the Valencia Open previously due to injuries. Despite the odds Murray was able to pull off a relaxing victory over the Spaniard Feliciano Lopez 7-6, 6-4.

Other clay surprises were those of Volandri vs Mahut match which finished 6-2, 6-3 in favour of the Italian player; followed by the ousting of the ninth seeded Frenchman Mathieu who lost to Serbian Janko Tipsarevic 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.

From what we have witnessed until now it is very likely this year's tournament will bring plenty of action and interesting matches as the big names in the ATP top ten begin to appear on the scheduled list. 2008 Australian Open and Indian Wells winner Novak Djokovic could be a possible rival for Murray in a third round match. Djokovic has made it clear to all of us that he is in active pursue of the number one position as he possesses all the tools and skills to achieve such goal. Nevertheless; the Serb is very aware of the fact he will encounter the man who has dominated the red surfaces over the past years; Spaniard Rafa Nadal and who is not willing to surrender his crown any time soon.

Nadal is the 3-in-a-row Monte Carlo King since his first win back in 2005 over Argentinean Coria 6-3, 6-1, 0-6, 7-5 followed by two consecutive defeats over world number one Roger Federer in 2006 and 2007 respectively. Nadal holds a 93-1 clay-court record which he persistently kept to 81-0 previously to his loss at the German Open to counterpart Federer last year. Nadal's record also includes three French Grand Slam titles besides wins in Rome and Hamburg. But this year, the Spaniard will have to juggle a new trick in order to continue his reign due to the regular European clay tournament schedule changes because of the Beijing Olympic Games next month of August.

The Spaniard made a statement regarding the current situation ... "The calendar is completely crazy," Nadal said yesterday in Monte Carlo. "I think it's not fair to the European players and the clay-court players, too. Three Masters in four weeks, it is too much. They [the ATP] say this is an Olympic year, that is very nice, but the truth is they put Indian Wells and Miami back [actually forward] because of the college [basketball]."

It will be very interesting to see whether the Nadal era will prevail if he is able to win his fourth uninterrupted title; a win-streak which had not been witnessed since 1971 when Ilie Nastase won three consecutive times.

However; there are plenty of factors to take into account; to begin we have a recovered Federer who has just won at the Estoril Open in Portugal; then there are Spaniard David Ferrer whose game is most aggressive on clay and he seems to be going through the best time in his career; just this weekend he grasped the crown at the Valencia Open winning over fellowman Almagro in three sets.

As a tennis fan I must admit this tournament is a tough call as more players keep lining up to take the trophy home and get on course to the French Grand Slam at Roland Garros next month.

Adidas Predator Absolute cleats are definitely an outstanding soccer shoes, like all Predators. They are well build with lots of elements making them very comfortable. And thats the most important aspect of soccer cleats: comfort. And they are.

The question is:

Is the Adidas Predator Absolute better than its prior version - Predator Pulse?

I am not sure. Actually I dont think there is a huge improvement. Of course, in order to release a new version, Adidas had to add or change something, besides the name.

So it did by:

  1. Adding another insole without 40g weight (Power Pulse) that you can exchange with Power Pulse insole and convert your soccer cleats into Predators withoutPower Pulse (but much lighter). In a sense youll convert Predator Absolute intoPredator Mania (variant before Predator Pulse).
Is that better than just have Predators with permanent Power Pulse technology? I guessbut I am not convinced.
  2. Changing or re-engineering, if you like, the Predator technology. I dont care how and where they placed those rubber (or liquid rubber) elements on the shoe, it simply wont make you a player with super star quality. Sure the Predator technology might help a little but dont count on scoring goals from free kicks like Beckham or Zidane just because you have cleats with Predator elements. In order to do it all you need to do is practice, practice and once more practice.
  3. Changing design of the heel counter. Its smaller (which is good more comfort) but hopefully itll provide you with as much stability and protection as the old version.

So, why I think the Adidas Predator Absolute is not so much better than Predator Pulse?

Its because, in my opinion, these changes (improvements?) dont make Predator Absolute more comfortable than Predator Pulse (which was already very comfortable anyway). Maybe the smaller external heel counter makes a little difference butjust a little. Also I am sure that your skill level or your game, shot, pass etc. wont improve just because you wear Predator Absolute with re-engineered predator elements.

What I am trying to suggest to you is that if the money is an issue or you dont necessarily must have every new model of Adidas soccer cleats right away, take an advantage of prices revolution in Adidas cleats market (it always happens when a new model comes out) and get yourself a high quality soccer cleats for much less.

The old Predators Pulse are still the same awesome shoes that they were few months ago butmuch cheaper now (about 40%).
